Draco was standing still outside Grimmauld Place, a small parcel in his hand. He nervously bit his lower lip as he shuffled his weight from one leg to the other. He looked down at his feet and up again to the doorbell so many times that his gaze became blurry by the time he decided to lift a hand and knock on the door.

He knew the wards must have warned Harry about his indecisive visitor, but he also knew Harry didn't really care - after all, the wards were set to keep strangers and dangers out; if Draco had gotten past them it meant Harry trusted him.

That alone was enough to make Draco wary. Harry had been his partner for years, they got along better than anyone could have expected, and after so many months they had become friends. Harry had invited Draco over for his Halloween party for the first time in three years; the blond was partly annoyed because he had missed two parties in the time they had been working together, and partly in hysterics because he was going to a party with Harry Potter.

It wasn't the whole Golden Boy issue that bothered him. He was long past the animosity from their teen years. It was more the fact that Draco had finally acknowledged his own crush on Harry, a feeling that was only amplified with their shared proximity.

The door opened before his hand could even retreat properly from the doorbell. Harry was standing there, a broad smile painted on his face that only widened when he saw Draco there.

"Draco!" he exclaimed, flailing a little. "Come in, come in!"

"Happy Halloween," Draco greeted, feeling all the shades of stupid that he could feel. "I've brought you this," he continued, offering the package to the other wizard.

"You didn't have to, Draco," Harry replied. He took the parcel in his hands and let his fingers brush against Draco's for a second longer than what the blond was expecting. The sudden heat spreading through him caught him by surprise, but Draco was quick in covering his startled reaction.

"It's just a small detail, nothing too big." Draco smiled politely. "It's good manners, to bring something when you're invited to someone's house."

"You and your tight upbringing," Harry chuckled, his hand still warm against Draco's. "Your presence is always enough, Draco, you should know that by now." Harry chuckled as he closed the door after Draco. "Also, you should have worn a costume, you know? It's a Halloween party, after all."

Draco shook his head but stepped inside the house. The hall was as dark and somber as he remembered it from old wizarding pictures which showed different members of the Black family during their daily routines - Draco shivered when he recalled how many of those involved being derisive towards other wizards. With time, he had learned that what he had been taught while growing up wasn't the only truth out there, and though he had kept some old habits, many others had flown out the window after years of wizarding therapy at St. Mungo's.

They walked together to the main living room, where no one was in sight. Draco frowned. "I thought this was a party?" he asked. "Where's everyone?"

Harry blushed bashfully. "I may have asked you to come a bit early than the rest."

"Why so?" Draco stared at him questioningly. "You could have asked me to help you organize the party. You know I'd have been happy to do so!"

Harry exhaled a hard and sharp breath and took a step closer to Draco. "Well," he whispered as he leaned into Draco's personal space. "You see, I wanted to have you all for myself..." He was backing Draco against a wall covered in dusty green paper; the blond wondered why he hadn't changed the decoration of that particular room, but his mind soon refused to concentrate on anything that wasn't Harry's scent or his body all around Draco, and so the blond stopped analyzing his surroundings and instead focused on what was happening. "Just for myself..."

Draco held his breath as he unconsciously leaned into Harry as well. His blond tufts of hair brushed Harry's shoulder when the other wizard stepped even closer. "Really?"

"I've been wanting to do this for so long..."

Draco had never been brave or bold in his life, not if he wasn't supported by his minions who turned out to be the worst enemies he could have asked for, but he felt strangely encouraged by the closeness they were sharing and just retorted with the first thing that crossed his mind, which was also the biggest truth of his life. "Then do it."

Harry took advantage of his slighter taller frame to trap Draco against the wall and claim his lips in a searing kiss. The blond took it all in stride, enjoying the ride he had been preparing himself to never get. He relished in the feeling of that hard chest against his own, of those hands roaming through his body, until he felt something hard and long poking at him under his belt. He gasped. "Harry," he muttered. "Are you happy to see me?"

Harry chuckled, pulling away. Draco whimpered at the loss. "That's just my wand," the brunet explained, taking it out of his front pocket. Draco couldn't help but allow his gaze to linger a second too long on that part of Harry's anatomy. "But I think I have time to show you just how happy I am to have you here," he continued, caressing Draco's waist through his clothes.

"I can't wait to show you how happy I am to be here," Draco retaliated, wasting no time in moving from beneath Harry and taking a few steps to the closest door. "If I remember correctly, the master bedroom is this way?"

"You are so very right, but I'd love to show you around the house," Harry muttered, hooking his hands on Draco's wrist.

"Then, by all means, show me---" Draco began to say, but Harry claimed his mouth again and silenced him with a passionate kiss.

Draco never saw anything of Grimmauld Place that night, apart from the ballroom and the master bed.
